Hello, this is Go Dam.

I've put together a collection of songs that come to mind and that I often find myself listening to as we transition from summer to fall.

For me, choral music is most akin to the feeling of an autumn breeze seeping in, so I naturally listen to it a lot this time of year. This playlist is comprised of pieces I personally cherish and wanted to share with friends at Tilt.

안녕하세요, 틸트입니다. 

오랜만에 깊은 큐레이션으로 찾아왔습니다. 이번 플레이리스트는 고정된 방식을 따르지 않습니다. 날카롭게 다가왔다가 곧 정적인 공간을 만들고, 불규칙한 리듬으로 긴장을 일으키다가 이내 또 다른 흐름으로 흘러갑니다. 이번 청취는 이러한 불확정한 움직임을 따라가며, 감각의 전환 속에서 스스로를 새롭게 위치시키는 경험이 목표입니다.

청취는 작은 균열에 머물기도 하고, 공간의 울림과 호흡을 따라가기도 합니다. 소리와 감각은 수축과 확장을 반복하며 단절과 연결 속에서 감정을 불러옵니다.

I'm back with a deeply curated playlist after a long time. This playlist doesn't follow a fixed formula. It approaches you with sharpness, then promptly creates a static space. It builds tension with irregular rhythms, only to flow into yet another current. The goal of this listening experience is to follow these uncertain movements and reposition yourself amidst the transitions of your senses.

The experience may linger in small fissures or follow the resonance and breath of a space. Sound and sensation repeat contractions and expansions, evoking emotions through moments of disconnection and connection.

This curation doesn't demand a specific destination. It's all about surrendering to the flow and experiencing the moment where your senses and emotions are once again stirred and newly formed, right here and now.

안녕하세요 틸트 입니다.
이번 주 목요일 라디오 엔들레스에서는 조금 특별한 이야기를 준비했습니다. 1980년대와 90년대, 한국 대중음악의 무대 뒤에서 또렷한 울림을 남겼던 이름, ‘동아기획’의 음악들입니다.

동아기획, 그 이름 자체가 곧 사운드와 태도의 상징이었습니다. 아티스트가 자유롭게 숨 쉬고, 서로의 음악을 품앗이처럼 나누던 하나의 공동체였던 동아기획 사단은 조동진의 고요한 목소리에서 부터, 김현식의 뜨거운 보이스와 들국화의 앙상블, 시인과 촌장의 언어 같은 노래, 그리고 봄•여름•가을•겨울과 김현철, 장필순의 서정까지 세대와 장르를 잇는 하나의 결이 있었습니다.

동아기획은 방송보다 앨범을, 유행보다 음악의 완성도를 우선시했습니다. 그리고 무엇보다 좋은 소리를 남기는 일, 그 윤리를 끝내 지켜냈습니다. 시대의 흐름 속에서 레이블은 더 이상 활동이 없지만, 그들의 음악과 정신은 여전히 우리의 귀에, 또 마음에 남아 있습니다.

– Another Benchmark for Korean Music

Hello, this is Tilt.

This Thursday, on Radio Endless, we've prepared a special segment. We'll be exploring the music of "Donga Gihwek (  Dong-A Productions )," a name that left a distinct mark behind the scenes of Korean popular music in the 1980s and 90s.

Dong-A Productions  —the name itself was a symbol of sound and attitude. It was a community where artists could breathe freely, sharing each other's music as if through a communal effort. The Donga Gihwek family created a unique thread that connected generations and genres, from Jo Dong-jin's tranquil voice to Kim Hyun-sik's passionate vocals, Deulgukhwa's ensemble, the poetic songs of C'est Si Bon (Siin gwa Chonjang), and the lyricism of Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Kyeoul, Kim Hyun-chul, and Jang Pil-soon.

Donga Gihwek prioritized albums over broadcasts and musical completeness over fleeting trends. Above all, they upheld the ethic of creating excellent sound. Though the label is no longer active in the current era, their music and spirit endure in our ears and hearts.

This Thursday on Radio Endless, we'll trace the legacy left by Donga Gihwek. We'll quietly, yet deeply, immerse ourselves in the story of Donga Gihwek—a community of sound—and bring their music back into our present time.

- 외로운 이를 위한 플레이리스트

안녕하세요, 저는 샘 베를린이라고 합니다. 뉴저지 출신이고, 탭 존스 라는 이름으로 디제잉과 음악 작업을 하고 있습니다. 이번에 Tilt의 라디오 엔드리스에 초대받아 플레이리스트를 꾸릴 수 있게 되어 감사드립니다.

어릴 적부터 저는 음악에 완전히 사로잡혀 있었습니다. 지금도 마찬가지고요. 어린 시절엔 가지고 있는 모든 자원을 동원해 새로운 음악, 흥미로운 음악을 찾아내며 제 집착을 키워갔습니다. 지금처럼 인터넷이 본격적으로 보급되기 전이었기 때문에, 도서관, 라디오, 반스앤노블, 이웃, 그리고 친구들의 형·누나들을 통해 음악을 접하곤 했습니다. 그렇게 조금씩 제 취향을 가다듬고, 저만의 음악적 정체성을 만들어가기 시작했습니다.

특히 2000년대 초반, Jade Tree, K, Troubleman Unlimited, DFA Records 같은 레이블들이 떠받치던 인디 음악 씬에 강하게 끌렸습니다. 이 레이블들과 그들이 내던 밴드들은 펑크에서 출발했지만, 2000년대 초반에 발표된 음악들은 장르를 비껴가고, 실험적이며, 쉽게 분류하기 어려운 성격을 지니고 있었습니다. 노이즈와 전자음, 그리고 예상을 벗어나는 흐름으로 점점 기울어졌지요. 음악적으로는 장르의 틀을 깨고 있었지만, 녹음 방식, 발매 방식, 개념 면에서는 여전히 펑크적인 정신을 유지하고 있었습니다.

지금은 누구나 손끝에서 음악을 쉽게 접할 수 있고, 음악은 종종 ‘음악’이 아니라 단순히 ‘콘텐츠’로 불리곤 합니다. 하지만 제가 처음 이 노래들을 접했을 때는, 겨우 2분 30초의 황홀한 순간을 듣기 위해 10분 동안 퀵타임 파일이 로딩되길 기다려야 했습니다.

Hi, my name is Sam Berlin. I’m from New Jersey. I DJ and make music under the name Tab Jones. Thank you for inviting me to put together this playlist for Radio Endless at Tilt. 

Growing up I was obsessed with music. I still am. As a kid, I would use every resource I had to find new and interesting music to feed my obsession. This was before the internet really blew up, so I would utilize my local library, the radio, Barnes & Noble, neighbors and my friends’ older siblings. Eventually, I started to refine my tastes and develop my own musical identity.

I was drawn to the emerging independent music scene of the early 2000s that was held up by labels like Jade Tree, K, Troubleman Unlimited, and DFA Records. Many of these labels and the bands they released had their genesis in punk, but the music they made and released in the early 2000s was left of center, experimental and difficult to classify. There started to be more of a gravitation towards noise, electronics, and diverting expectations. It defied genre musically, but was somehow still punk in the way it was recorded, released and conceptualized.

Now, everyone has music at their fingertips and it’s often referred to not as music, but as “content”. When I first heard many of these songs, I would have to wait 10 minutes for a Quicktime file to load to experience two and a half minutes of pure bliss.

So here it is, a mixtape from my 16 year old self to you. I hope you enjoy it.

일단 틸트 운영자 분들께 감사하다는 말씀을 드리고싶습니다.

저에게 특별한 감정을 느끼게 해준 음악들을 편하게 마음껏 소개할 수 있는 자리가 많지 않은데, 

운영하시는 분들이 음악에대한 넓은 마음과 열린 감각을 가지고계신 분들인 만큼 다른때보다 좀 더 자유롭고 여유로운 마음으로 선곡할 수 있었습니다.

저에게 개인적으로 음악은 단순히 여러 요소들이 섞이는 차원을 넘어서, 어떤 내적 깊이를 만들어내는 에너지로 작동할 때가 있습니다. 그런 음악은 듣는 사람을 마치 사이키델릭하거나 최면적인 경험 속으로 끌어들이죠. 저는 오래전부터 그런 감각에 매료되어 늘 찾아 헤맸습니다. 그것은 매우 다양한 얼굴을 하고 있고 장르, 나라, 스타일을 가리지 않지만, 제가 느끼는 공통점은 바로 그 정서적인 연결감과 반복적이거나 독창적인 구성에서 쌓여가는 에너지입니다. 그래서 저는 그것을 제 나름대로 깊이로 통하는 “보편적인 언어”라고 생각합니다.

그런 이유로 제 컬렉션을 살펴보며 이 플레이리스트를 만들기 시작했고, 이렇게 여러분과 함께 들을 수 있는 자리가 마련되어 무척 기쁩니다.

I'd like to start by expressing my gratitude to the Tilt team.

It's rare to have a platform where I can freely share music that evokes special feelings in me. However, knowing that the organizers have such broad minds and open sensibilities towards music, I felt more at ease and freedom in selecting tracks than usual.

For me, personally, music sometimes transcends the mere mixing of various elements; it functions as an energy that creates a certain inner depth. Such music draws the listener into what feels like a psychedelic or hypnotic experience. I've been fascinated by this sensation for a long time, constantly seeking it out. It manifests in many different forms, regardless of genre, country, or style. Yet, what I find consistent is the emotional connection and the accumulating energy from repetitive or original compositions. This is why I consider it, in my own way, a "universal language" that leads to depth.

For these reasons, I began curating this playlist by going through my collection, and I'm truly delighted to have this opportunity to share it with all of you.

— 비현실적인 여행
 
음악 애호에 그치지 않고 사운드에 빠져버린 건
어쩌면 알지 못하는 가사의 영어 랩 음악을 주구장창 듣던 때부터인 것 같습니다.
 
가사나 음률에 담긴 의미보다 직관적으로 느껴지는
리듬과 음가에서 전달되는 느낌으로도 흥분할 수 있던 학창 시절부터
음악을 병적으로 수집하고 정리했습니다.
 
저는 사운드가 주가 되는 공간을 방문하는 것을 좋아합니다.
클럽이나 공연장에 가도 도착하자마자
소리가 제일 잘 들리는 곳을 탐색합니다.
 
여러 곳을 방문해봤지만
틸트는 인터랙티브한 지점이 다른 공간과는 확연하게 달랐습니다.
새로운 재미를 느껴버렸어요.
 
저는 디제잉을 할 때 선곡의 중점적인 요소를
공간, 현장 분위기, 흐름, 기분 순으로
정하곤 합니다.
 
이번 선곡은 ‘이 공간에서라면 나는 어떤 노래를 듣고 싶은가’에 대해 집중했습니다.
이 플레이리스트를 만들기 위해 그렇게 내가 집착적으로 음악 파일을 모았던 게 아닐까?
라는 과장된 생각까지 해봅니다.

I think my fascination with sound, beyond just loving music, probably started when I was constantly listening to English rap music with lyrics I didn't understand.
 
Since my school days, I've been pathologically collecting and organizing music. Back then, I could get excited by the intuitive feelings conveyed through rhythm and sound, rather than the meaning in the lyrics or melody.
 
I love visiting places where sound is the main focus. Even when I go to a club or a concert venue, the first thing I do is scout out the spot where the sound is best.
 
I've been to many places, but Tilt's interactive aspect was distinctly different from other venues. I discovered a new kind of fun there.
 
When I DJ, I usually prioritize song selection based on the space, the现场 (现场 - atmosphere/vibe), the flow, and my mood, in that order.
 
For this particular selection, I focused on "what songs would I want to hear in this space?" I even had the exaggerated thought that maybe all my obsessive collecting of music files was for this very playlist.
 
I'm already so excited to listen to this playlist at Tilt.

Designed Sensation Within Music
— 음악안에 설계된 감각

높은 음들은 머리 위에서 유연히 움직이고, 낮은 음들은 바닥을 울리며 거대한 생명감으로 사운드들이 물결처럼 몸 전체를 일렁이며 감쌉니다.

음악은 형체가 없는 시간 예술이기에 감상 환경에 따라 전혀 다른 얼굴을 보여줍니다. 틸트의 소리공간 철학이 담긴 섬세한 음향 시스템 속에서는 한 곡 안에 설계된 공간감, 질감, 진동의 움직임을 고스란히 느낄 수 있었습니다.

사운드와 공간간의 상호작용에 관심이 많은 저의 시선으로 틸트를 경험 했을 때 특히나 좋았던 음역대와 질감 중 carl stone의 Shing Kee 1986를 중심으로 리스트를 나열했습니다.

소리의 움직임과 질감을 감각할 수 있는 충분한 시간이 설계된 긴 호흡의 곡들로 구성되어 있습니다.

틸트의 소리공간 철학 안에서 잠시 외부로부터 멀리 떨어진 듯한 휴식과 감각이 새로이 확장되는 경험을 함께 나누었으면 좋겠습니다.

High notes gracefully float above, while low notes reverberate through the floor, engulfing the entire body in waves of sound that ripple with immense vitality.

Music, being an intangible art of time, presents a completely different face depending on the listening environment. Within Tilt's delicate acoustic system, imbued with their sound-space philosophy, I could fully experience the spatiality, texture, and vibratory movement designed into each piece.

As someone deeply interested in the interaction between sound and space, my experience at Tilt was particularly enhanced by certain frequency ranges and textures. I've compiled a list, focusing on Carl Stone's "Shing Kee 1986," that highlights these aspects.

This selection features long, expansive tracks designed to provide ample time to sense the movement and texture of the sound.

I hope we can share in this experience, where Tilt's sound-space philosophy offers a momentary respite from the outside world and an expansion of the senses.

Imagining Sound Seen and Touched

— 보이는 소리, 만져지는 소리를 상상하며

안녕하세요, 출판편집자 김리슨이라고 합니다.

음악은 형상이고 소리는 물질이라는 점을 종종 떠올립니다. 눈에 보이고 손에 잡힐 듯한 소리의 신비로움에 대해서도요. 그러한 물성은 추상 음악이나 실험 음악뿐 아니라 우리가 일상적으로 듣는 대중음악이나 클럽 음악에서도 느낄 수 있지요. 소리의 모양, 질감, 색깔, 온도 같은 것들 말예요.

캐치하고 감각적인 트랙 위주로 플레이리스트를 짜면서 문득 궁금해진 건, 제가 좋아하는 이 곡들이 저마다의 물성을 띤 채 틸트라는 공간 속을 어떻게 날갯짓하며 배회할지였습니다. 물방울처럼 맑고 찰랑이는 소리와, 도깨비같이 웃기고 기이한 소리와, 우주처럼 깊고 오묘한 소리를 두루 느껴볼 수 있길 기대하면서요.

소프트웨어가 빚어낸 신스 사운드부터 인간만이 지닌 독특한 목소리까지, 아름다운 음악과 다채로운 소리의 세계를 함께 탐험해 보는 시간이 되었으면 좋겠습니다.

Hello, my name is Leeson Kim, and I'm a publishing editor.

I often think about music as a form and sound as matter, and the mystery of sound that feels almost visible and tangible. This "materiality" can be felt not only in abstract or experimental music but also in the pop and club music we listen to every day. Things like the shape, texture, color, and temperature of sound.

While curating a playlist of catchy and sensuous tracks, I suddenly became curious about how these songs I love, each with its own unique materiality, would flutter and roam within the space of "Tilt." I was hoping to experience a wide range of sounds: clear and shimmering like raindrops, funny and bizarre like goblins, and deep and mysterious like the universe.

I hope this will be a time for us to explore the beautiful world of music and diverse sounds together, from synth sounds created by software to the unique human voice.

팩토리 레코즈(Factory Records)와 하시엔다(The Haçienda), 맨체스터의 정체성을 새긴 전설

1978년, 토니 윌슨(Tony Wilson), 앨런 에라스무스(Alan Erasmus), 롭 그레튼(Rob Gretton), 피터 새빌(Peter Saville)이 함께 설립한 팩토리 레코즈는 런던 중심의 음악 산업에 저항하며 맨체스터만의 독창적 정체성을 구축한 독립 레이블이었습니다. 상업적 이익보다 예술적 자유를 앞세우고, 밴드와 정식 계약조차 맺지 않는 파격적 운영은 곧 “인간 본성에 대한 실험”이라 불렸습니다.

이곳에서 탄생한 조이 디비전(Joy Division), 뉴 오더(New Order), 해피 먼데이스(Happy Mondays)는 포스트펑크와 일렉트로닉, 댄스 음악의 접점을 개척했습니다. 마틴 해넷(Martin Hannett)의 실험적 프로듀싱, 피터 새빌(Peter Saville)의 시각 언어, 가족 같은 공동체적 운영은 팩토리를 하나의 문화적 신화로 자리매김시켰습니다. 그러나 예술을 향한 과감한 선택과 재정적 무모함은 1991년 레이블의 종말을 불러왔습니다.

1937년, 올란두 시우바(Orlando Silva)가 부른 ’A Última Canção(마지막 노래)‘은 보사노바의 기원 앞에 놓인 노래라 할 수 있습니다. 당시에는 여전히 삼바와 라디오용 대중가요가 주류였지만, 이 곡은 속삭이듯 담담한 창법으로 후대 음악가들에게 특별한 전조처럼 다가왔습니다. 훗날 평론가들은 이를 “보사노바 이전의 보사노바”라 불렀습니다.

1950~60년대 리우데자네이루에서, 주앙 지우베르투(João Gilberto)의 절제된 기타와 목소리, 안토니우 카를루스 조빙(Antônio Carlos Jobim)의 정제된 화성, 실비아 텔레스(Sylvia Telles)와 나라 레앙 (Nara Leão) 의 목소리가 합쳐지며 보사노바는 비로소 자신만의 언어를 갖게 되었습니다. 바다와 도시, 사랑과 고독을 담은 노래들은 작은 방과 리우의 해변을 넘어 브라질 사회의 감수성을 새롭게 정의했습니다.

In 1937, Orlando Silva's song "A Última Canção (The Last Song)" can be seen as a precursor to the origins of Bossa Nova. While samba and popular radio tunes still dominated at the time, Silva's whispered, understated vocal style felt like a special omen to later musicians. Critics would eventually call it "Bossa Nova before Bossa Nova."

In Rio de Janeiro during the 1950s and 60s, Bossa Nova truly found its own voice with the combination of João Gilberto's restrained guitar and vocals, Antônio Carlos Jobim's refined harmonies, and the voices of Sylvia Telles and Nara Leão. These songs, capturing the essence of the sea and the city, love and solitude, moved beyond small rooms and Rio's beaches to redefine the sensibility of Brazilian society.

Entering the 1970s, Bossa Nova embarked on a different trajectory. Musicians like Toquinho, Caetano Veloso, and Gal Costa carried on Bossa Nova's roots, blending them with MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) and expanding the voice of the era. Their music was an effort to reintroduce the spirit of Bossa Nova in the contemporary language.

This edition of Radio Endless traces a brief history of Bossa Nova, from its formative period to its establishment and expansion. From the intimate echoes before its international popularity to the songs that extended across generations. - 다른 가능성의 여정

Tilt에서의 첫 청음이 무뎌진 말초신경을 깨워준 이후,이 공간을 조금 부지런히 다녔습니다. Tilt가 지닌 실험적 전자음악의 '결'과 조금 다른 방향의 큐레이션해보았습니다.

Beastie Boys 부터 Brian Eno의 2025년 최신작까지 준비한 Alternative 세션은 ‘음악의 정체성은 고유하지 않다’라는 사실을 증명 하는거 같습니다.

Beck, Vegyn,J Dilla의 끊임없이 진화하는 샘플링과 비트메이킹 Holy Fuck,Boards of Canada의 소음과 텍스쳐, 감각을 부드럽게 이완시켜주는 Dub Tractor, 일본적 해석의 서구 음악을 넘어 하나의 장르가 된 Cornelius등  대중적이면서도 다양한 경계를 넘나드는 음악 여정을 준비했습니다.

이번 기회가 아니더라도 틸트가 제공하는 청각적 미식을 사유하여 일상의 좋은 영감을 얻어가길 바라겠습니다.

Alternative Odyssey – A Journey of Other Possibilities

After my first listening session at Tilt awakened my dulled senses, I began visiting this space more often. For this session, I’ve curated a selection of music that takes a slightly different path from Tilt’s usual thread of experimental electronic sounds.

From the Beastie Boys to Brian Eno’s latest 2025 release, this Alternative session seems to demonstrate one simple truth: music’s identity is never fixed.

We’ll explore the ever-evolving sampling and beat-making of Beck, Vegyn, and J Dilla; the noise and texture-driven soundscapes of Holy Fuck and Boards of Canada; the soothing layers of Dub Tractor; and Cornelius, who has transformed Western influences into a uniquely Japanese sound that now stands as a genre of its own. This is a journey across borders, genres, and sensibilities—familiar yet endlessly surprising.

Even if you miss this particular session, I hope Tilt’s auditory offerings will spark inspiration in your everyday life.

시간과 공간을 부드럽게 유영하듯, 이 플레이리스트는 최근에 발견한 곡들과 제가 아끼는 오래된 곡들을 섞어 만든 컬렉션입니다. 주중 저녁 시간에 편안하게 감상하실 수 있도록 시간 순서대로 배열했습니다.
 
특정 장르나 테마를 기반으로 한 것이 아니라, 지난 몇 주간 주로 휴대폰으로 음악을 듣다가 우연히 발견한 곡들을 즉흥적으로 선곡한 것입니다. 돌아보니 앰비언트, 덥, 익스페리멘탈, 슈게이즈, 다운템포, 테크노가 뒤섞인 플레이리스트가 되었네요. 각각의 곡들은 그 자체로도 흥미롭지만, 특히 Tilt의 360° 공간 음향 시스템으로 감상할 때 더욱 특별하게 다가옵니다.

It’s not based on a specific genre or theme, but rather a spontaneous selection of tracks I’ve come across over the past couple of weeks mostly while listening on my phone. Looking back, it turned out to be a mix of ambient, dub, experimental, shoegaze, downtempo, and techno—each one feeling exciting in its own way, especially on the 360° spatial audio system at Tilt.
 
I’ve really enjoyed listening to this music over the past few weeks, so thank you to Tilt for having me. I hope many of you can come out and join us for an intimate listening session in the uniquely designed audio space at Tilt, on Wednesday, August 27 at 9:00 PM.

“Sound and Non-Sound”

— 사운드를 사유하는 실험실

라스터 노튼(Raster-Noton)은 1999년, 동독 켐니츠(Chemnitz)에서 성장한 세 아티스트, 카르스텐 니콜라이(Alva Noto), 올라프 벤더(Byetone), 프랭크 브렛슈나이더(Frank Bretschneider)가 각자 운영하던 Rastermusic과 Noton을 병합하며 출범했습니다. 이들은 전자음악을 장르적으로 접근 하기보다 사운드를 탐구하는 하나의 플랫폼으로 바라보았고, 지난 20여 년간 150여 개의 발매작을 통해 예술, 과학, 디자인이 교차하는 영역을 개척했습니다.

라스터 노튼의 작업은 종종 ‘글리치’나 ‘미니멀 테크노’로 불리지만, 본질은 음악적 규범을 해체하고 사운드 자체를 사유하는 태도에 있습니다. “Ton und Nichtton(사운드와 비-사운드)”라는 개념처럼, 음반뿐 아니라 포스터, 오브제, 설치, 공연으로 확장되며, 소리를 둘러싼 세계를 하나의 실험실로 재구성해왔습니다.

사운드는 컴퓨터의 오류 신호, 원시 데이터, 복제와 재처리의 과정을 통해 청각적 조각으로 변모합니다. Nicolai, Ikeda, Byetone, Bretschneider의 프로젝트는 각각 데이터, 대칭 구조, 리듬의 파편을 활용하여 소리를 개념적 매체로 확장했습니다. 투명한 패키징과 정밀한 디자인, 실시간 비주얼 시스템은 이들의 환원주의적 미학을 시각적으로까지 이어갔습니다.

2017년 Raster와 Noton으로 분리되었지만, Raster-Noton은 여전히 전자음악 역사에서 가장 영향력 있는 실험적 플랫폼 중 하나입니다. 그들의 작업은 “음악을 어떻게 만들 것인가”가 아니라, “사운드를 어떻게 바라볼 것인가”라는 질문을 던지며, 예술과 과학, 데이터와 감각의 경계를 넘나드는 사운드 실험으로 기능해왔습니다.

8월 24일 틸트는 Raster-Noton의 아카이브로 다시 채워집니다. 높은 해상력과 입체적인 음장 속에서 펼쳐질 이들의 정교한 소리 입자는, 그들이 가장 선호했던 가이타인(Me-Geithain) 스피커를 통해 구현되며, 라스터 노튼 아티스트들의 관점에서 모니터링할 수 있는 드문 청취 경험으로 다가올 것입니다.

Raster-Noton was launched in 1999 through the merger of Rastermusic and Noton, labels originally run by three artists who grew up in Chemnitz, East Germany: Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto), Olaf Bender (Byetone), and Frank Bretschneider. Rather than approaching electronic music by genre, they viewed it as a platform for exploring sound itself. Over the past two decades, they have released over 150 works, pioneering a field that intersects art, science, and design.

While Raster-Noton's work is often categorized as 'glitch' or 'minimal techno,' its essence lies in an attitude of deconstructing musical norms to contemplate sound itself. This is embodied in their concept of "Ton und Nichtton" (sound and non-sound), which extended beyond records to posters, objects, installations, and performances, reconfiguring the world surrounding sound into a laboratory.

Sound is transformed into auditory sculpture through processes involving computer error signals, raw data, and cycles of replication and reprocessing. The projects of artists like Nicolai, Ryoji Ikeda, Byetone, and Bretschneider expanded sound into a conceptual medium by utilizing data, symmetrical structures, and rhythmic fragments. Their reductionist aesthetic was further extended visually through transparent packaging, precision design, and real-time visual systems.

Although the label split back into Raster and Noton in 2017, Raster-Noton remains one of the most influential experimental platforms in the history of electronic music. Its work posed the question not of "how to make music," but of "how to perceive sound," functioning as a sonic experiment that traversed the boundaries between art and science, data and sensation.

Tonight, Tilt is filled with the Raster-Noton archive. Presented in high resolution and an immersive sound field, the artists' meticulously crafted sound particles will be realized through their preferred ME-Geithain speakers, offering a rare listening experience monitored from the perspective of the Raster-Noton artists themselves.

한 음악가의 세계를 듣는 일은, 그가 어떠한 조건 속에서 소리를 불러내고 있는지를 함께 더듬어 가는 과정이라 할 수 있습니다. 틸트의 두 번째 ALC 세션에서는 음악가 김유신과 임희주(Vegetable Wife)를 초청하여, 그들의 방법론과 음악적 철학을 탐구합니다. 이어지는 시간에는 두 예술가의 작업을 청취 중심으로 경험할 수 있는 무대를 마련하고자 합니다.

김유신은 지난 10여 년간 전자음악에 몰두하며 자신만의 언어를 구축해온 음악가입니다. 최근 앨범 ‘sDauurem (다스름)’에서 그는 ‘금소’와 ‘대퉁소’라는 가상의 악기를 창조해 실제 악기의 한계를 넘어서는 소리를 구현했습니다. 그의 음악은 전자적 실험을 넘어, 소리 자체가 하나의 존재가 될 수 있는가라는 질문을 던집니다.

임희주는 소리와 소리 사이의 조건을 조율하며 관계의 시작을 실험하는 음악가입니다. 2024년 ’Vegetable Wife‘라는 이름으로 발표한 앨범 ‘Inscrutable Sap‘에서 그녀는 불연속적 소리의 생성과 접합을 통해, 길들일 수 없는 힘과 새로운 관계의 가능성을 드러냅니다. 그녀의 음악은 소리를 윤리와 도덕의 경계 너머에서, 말해지지 않는 것을 향한 제스처로 제시합니다.

To listen to a musician's world is to trace the conditions under which they conjure sound. For Tilt's second ALC session, we invite musicians Yoosin Kim and Heejoo Im (Vegetable Wife) to explore their methodologies and musical philosophies. The session will be followed by a performance, creating a space to experience the work of these two artists with a focus on deep listening.

Yoosin Kim is a musician who has spent the last decade immersed in electronic music, building his own unique language. In his recent album ‘sDauurem,’ he invented the virtual instruments "Geumso" and "Daetungso" to create sounds that transcend the limitations of real instruments. His music goes beyond electronic experimentation to ask the question: can sound itself become an entity?

Heejoo Im is a musician who experiments with the beginnings of relationships by tuning the conditions between sounds. In her 2024 album ‘Inscrutable Sap,’ released under the name Vegetable Wife, she reveals the potential for untamable forces and new connections through the generation and fusion of discontinuous sounds. Her music presents sound as a gesture toward the unspoken, beyond the boundaries of ethics and morality.

— 휘몰아치던 모든 감정이 다시 중심으로

이 소리는 유년기 10년 제 내면을 형성해 온 시기의 기록입니다. 

가장 투박하고 격한 감정을 많이 느꼈던 시기에, 그 감정들을 어떻게 정제하고 승화해야 하는지를 배웠던 순간들로 기억합니다.

파괴적이고 충동적인 언어가 정교하게 다듬어지고 비트위에서 질서를 갖출때, 온갖 혼란과 부정적인 것들이 승화되는 듯한 느낌을 받았습니다.

떠올려 보면 그 경험들이 저의 유년시절을 강력하게 지배했었고, 이 곡들은 저에게 지금은 떠나온 고향, 어린시절 살던 집과 같이 가장 소중한 기억들이 담겨있는 존재라 할수 있습니다.

그 시절 가장 아름다웠던, 가장 슬펐던 모든 순간, 그때 모든 감정을 다 압축해서 설명해 보자면 이런 모습일거 같네요.

— All the swirling emotions return to the center.

This sound is a record of a decade of my youth, a time that shaped my inner self.

I remember it as a period when I felt the most raw and intense emotions, and a time when I learned how to refine and sublimate them.

I felt a sense of sublimation, as if all the chaos and negativity were being purified, when destructive and impulsive language was intricately refined and found order on top of a beat.

Looking back, those experiences powerfully dominated my childhood, and these songs are like my hometown that I've since left, or the house I grew up in – a vessel for my most precious memories.

If I were to try and capture all the most beautiful and sorrowful moments of that time, to compress all the emotions of that period, it would sound like this.

—  폐허 위에 울려온 1940–50년대 파리의 목소리

“내가 들려줄 수도 있었던 이야기, 내 삶을 닮은 그 이야기의 기억이 희미하고 차갑게 떠올랐다. 끝낼 용기도, 계속할 힘도 없이 흐르던 이야기.”

전쟁이 끝난 뒤에도 도시에는 쉽게 말로 옮겨지지 않는 감정들이 남아 있었습니다. 어긋난 삶의 리듬과 감각은 흐려졌고 일상은 다시 조율되어야 했습니다. 그럼에도 파리 좌안의 누군가들은 그 폐허 위에서 글을 쓰고, 노래하고, 연주하며 존재의 더 깊은 결을 다시 건드리기 시작했습니다.

이번 큐레이션은 아네스 푸아리에의 ‘사랑, 예술, 정치의 실험 – 파리좌안 1940–50’에서 출발합니다.이 책은 하나의 시대를 사건 중심으로 설명하기보다,그 시간을 통과한 이들의 감각, 불확실한 기억과 침묵, 냉소와 도취, 그리고 스쳐 지나가는 감정의 잔상을 따라 시대를 바라봅니다.

지금 우리는 감정을 제대로 감각하지도, 말로 옮기지도 못한 채 살아가고 있다는 생각이 들었습니다. 복잡하지만 공허한 시대일수록, 오히려 단순한 감정과 그 결을 더듬는 일이 절실해집니다. 그럴 때 떠오른 것은, 폐허 위에서도 감각을 포기하지 않았던 이들의 소리였습니다.

이번 Radio Endless는 바로 그 정서적 반향을 따라갑니다. 이 음악들은 질문과 질문 사이에서 흘러나온 사유의 흔적들입니다. 샹송과 쿨 재즈, 파편처럼 흩어진 감정의 목소리들 속에는 그들이 남긴 삶의 방식이 고스란히 배어 있습니다.

이 작은 흐름은, 한 시대의 음들이 남긴 잔향을 따라

감각의 구조를 다시 열어보려는 시도입니다. 말보다 먼저 반응했던 감정들이 Tilt에서 다시 울릴 수 있기를 바랍니다.

Even after the war ended, a feeling lingered in the city that words couldn't easily capture. The rhythm of life had been disrupted, senses dulled, and daily existence needed to be recalibrated. And yet, on the Left Bank of Paris, some began to touch the deeper textures of existence once more, writing, singing, and playing music amidst the ruins.

This curation begins with Agnès Poirier's Left Bank: Art, Passion, and the Rebirth of Paris, 1940-50. Rather than explaining an era through a timeline of events, this book views the period through the senses of those who lived it—their uncertain memories, silences, cynicism, and euphoria, and the afterimages of fleeting emotions.

It occurred to me that we, too, are living in a time where we often fail to truly sense or articulate our emotions. In an age so complex yet empty, it becomes all the more essential to trace the contours of simple feelings. That’s when I thought of the sounds made by those who refused to abandon their senses, even in the midst of ruin.

This edition of Radio Endless follows that very emotional resonance. The music represents the traces of thought that flowed between one question and the next. In the chansons, cool jazz, and fragmented voices of emotion, the way of life they left behind is deeply embedded.

This small collection is an attempt to reopen the structure of our senses by following the reverberations left by the sounds of an era. We hope the emotions that reacted before words could form will resonate once again at Tilt.

A Jazz Blueprint for Fall

— 가을을 기다리는 17곡의 재즈 구조도

안녕하세요. 하노아라고 합니다. 일본에서 태어나 자란 고등학생으로, 유포니엄과 트롬본을 연주하며 재즈를 더 깊이 배우고 있습니다. 틸트의 마스터이신 삼촌의 부탁을 받아, 제가 가장 좋아하는 계절, 가을을 주제로 플레이리스트를 만들었습니다.

첫 곡이 그리는 풍경은 뉴욕이었습니다. 가족과 여행 중, 잠시 머문 카페 창밖으로 바람이 불고 낙엽이 흩날렸습니다. 그때 느낀 재즈의 온도와 공기를 이번 리스트에 담았습니다.

많은 사람들이 색소폰이나 트럼펫처럼 앞에서 리드하는 악기를 먼저 떠올리지만, 저는 곡의 온도와 구조를 다잡아주는 소리를 더 좋아합니다.

트롬본, 콘트라베이스 같은 악기들이에요. 연주자 입장에서 들어보면, 이 소리들이야말로 곡 전체를 묶어주는 진짜 축 같습니다.

꼭 그 풍경이 뉴욕일 필요는 없습니다. 조용히 앉아 쉴 수 있는 시간과 창밖의 공기를 느낄 수 있는 자리라면 어디든 좋습니다. 그런 순간이야말로 곡을 더 깊게 들을 수 있는 때라고 생각합니다.

여름이 끝나갈 무렵, 이 음악들이 여러분에게도 계절을 천천히 걸어가는 기분을 줄 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.

A Jazz Blueprint for Fall
— A 17-track guide to awaiting autumn

Hello. My name is Noah Ha. I'm a high school student born and raised in Japan, and I'm delving deeper into jazz while playing the euphonium and trombone. At the request of my uncle, the master at Tilt, I’ve created a playlist with the theme of my favorite season, autumn.

The first song paints a picture of New York. During a family trip, I was sitting in a café when the wind blew and leaves scattered outside the window. I tried to capture the temperature and atmosphere of the jazz I felt at that moment in this list.

Many people first think of lead instruments like the saxophone or trumpet, but I prefer the sounds that establish the song's temperature and structure.

Instruments like the trombone and contrabass. From a performer's perspective, these sounds feel like the real axis that holds the entire piece together.

It doesn't have to be that exact New York scenery. Any place where you can sit quietly and feel the air outside the window is perfect. I believe those are the moments when you can listen to a song more deeply.

As summer comes to a close, I hope this music can give you the feeling of slowly walking into the new season.

안녕하세요. 이번 목요일, 라디오 엔들리스의 게스트 큐레이터로 함께하게 된 남희승입니다.

세상의 모든 음악에는 치유의 힘이 깃들어 있다고 생각합니다. 패션을 공부하는 학생으로서, 때때로 자신에 대한 의심과 미래에 대한 막연한 두려움을 쉽게 떨쳐내지 못하며 지내는 것 같습니다. 마음 어딘가 아파올 때, 음악은 그 아픔을 있는 그대로 받아들여 주기에 많은 위로를 받곤 합니다.

제 마음의 모양을 닮은 곡들을 모아보았습니다. 잡을 수도 없고 형체도 없이 공기 중에 스며들어, 어떠한 강요도 없이 마음을 이끌어 주는 음악. 그 음악이 흐르는 대로, 울어도 보고 사랑도 느껴보셨으면 좋겠습니다.

Hello. My name is Heeseung Nam, and I'm thrilled to be the guest curator for Radio Endless this Thursday.

I believe that all music in the world holds the power to heal. As a fashion student, I sometimes find it hard to shake off self-doubt and a vague fear of the future. Whenever my heart aches, I find great comfort in music because it accepts the pain just as it is.

I've gathered a collection of songs that resemble the shape of my own heart. This is music that you can't quite grasp, that has no form and simply melts into the air, guiding your heart without any sense of force. I hope you let the music flow through you, allowing yourself to cry and to feel love.

I put this list together with the hope that, for one hour, you might forget the passage of time and simply enjoy the moment.
